Fear

It is a term we all know and understand, but few really think about it. First, one must define fear. This is not an easy task because there is no absolute answer. Is fear a natural instinct meant to protect ones self? If so why do people not share the same fears? Is it simply anything a person may find threatening to one's well-being? Or is it deeper than that? Is it truly a deep founded pure opposition to an idea or object that may, for whatever reason, be identified as an evil to one's good? But what about those who fear nothing? are they lying or do they truly have no evils in their life? If there is a way to fear nothing and that meaning there are no evils in one's life, then is the person stronger or more powerful? Or does he have no reason for being, if not to conquer his evils?

Share your thoughts.

i believe that fear is a natural instinct helping and telling us when to back off from a particular predator otherwise early man would have very well gone extinct without fear.i don't believe anyone is without fear it is impossible in my opinion to not fear anything it's just not possible

Ok, good response, but if it is an instinct, then why do some people fear seemingly harmless objects like pickles, facial hair, and colors? A mutation?

well just like another survival skill of ours imagination can sometimes run wild and actually be counterproductive and i don't think it is a mutation it may be but i don't think so

i like the way you think. fear is something that everyone has, no matter what they say. they will come across something in their life that contradicts what they say. fear is an instinct to protect our well being. people fear inanimate objects like jello probably because of evolution. due to the gene pool in ones family, maybe it is a non dominant trait that has arose from the mating partners. back in the beginnings of mankind, the first cavemen would test everything before following through with it. if they felt endangered they would not proceed. although most died do to what would be considered today as a lack of common sense, we evolved. people fear things like jello due to a slight lack of evolution in a part of their brain. i am also guessing that these people lack the common sense that most others have. its all just a guess

i think most fears that people have can be accounted for psychological scars in their past but some may be because of lack of evolution

I agree with both of you. But I think it is more of a mutation than an actual lack of evolution.
